The report of the Pissarides committee proposes:
With Law 4808/2021, the Convention with no. 190 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) "on the elimination of violence and harassment in the world of work" which recognizes the right of all employees - regardless of their contractual relationship and regardless of whether they belong to the private or public sector - to a workplace free from violence and harassment, which constitute a violation of human rights and which affects the mental and physical
health, dignity, the economic and social environment, while they also pose a threat to the working environment itself.
The bill acts in the direction against discrimination
Strengthening prevention, information and awareness obligations on the part of all employers,
– Making such policies and complaints handling policies mandatory at the enterprise level with more than 20 employees;
– Establishing an employer's obligation to react to an incident by taking measures and giving a protective network of rights to the victim, which move in the same direction as already provided for in the existing framework of the prohibition of discrimination,
– Establishing mechanisms to monitor incidents, strengthen controls and conduct the process that are targeted in these cases, and
– Providing for a special framework of sanctions, but also the possibility of taking administrative measures with immediate effect in case of danger.
Therefore, the proposal is assessed as partially implemented.
According to the amendments of no. 21 the General Secretariat of Demographic and Family Policy and Gender Equality (GDOPIF) awards public and private sector enterprises that are distinguished for the implementation of policies of equal treatment and equal opportunities for working women and men and policies to prevent and combat violence and of harassment by granting an "Equality Badge".
With article 32, the responsibility for discrimination issues is assigned to the Independent Authority of the Citizen's Ombudsman, which is the competent national body for monitoring and
promoting the implementation of the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment of men and women.
Therefore, the proposal is assessed as implemented.
